We asked Dr. Burke a few questions so that we could learn more about her and get a glimpse into the amazing things that she does in our community!

Where are you originally from? Catonsville-Born and Raised!

How long have you been at Paradise Animal Hospital? Since birth…just kidding 6/19/1990

Where did you go to school? Catonsville Elementary, Junior, Senior high, UMBC, Ohio State

Describe your role in the area pet community? As a hometown veterinarian. I see my role as a doctor first, then employer, community member and business leader

What would you say is the most important impact that your hospital has? Providing outstanding veterinary care in a small town setting

Was would you say was the one greatest pet related, community accomplishment that you have had? Our annual spay-a-thons have provided free spay/neuter surgery to more than 600 cats. Preventing more than 200,000 unwanted, unnecessary pregnancies

At what point in your life did you realize that you had such a deep connection with pets? Probably middle school…my horses were the center of my whole world well into my teens.

List your pets and names throughout the years (including childhood ones): A series of Chris’ all German Shepherds, Dusty, Rebel, Dixie, Smokey—all Pointer’s—personally “Chip” my husband’s first dog, a pointer—Sara Jane my Shepherd rescue, Sneakers, Sadie, Trapper, and currently Ripp and Croner…cats Raisin, Jupiter, Rascal, Beatty and currently Charlotte and Ahab

What kind of food do you feed your pets? Cats-Wellness & Dogs-Wilderness

What is your favorite movie? I love romantic comedies

What kind of music do you like? Country…Jason Aldean, Eric Church

What was the last book that you read? Memorably..The Art of Racing in the Rain

Where was your last vacation? Outer Banks, North Carolina

What is your favorite restaurant? Locally…love the Diner

If you could meet with anyone in the world, who would it be? Government leaders to discuss how small businesses can create jobs in the community.
