Preparing for Your First Visit

  • To make your time with us as comfortable as possible, we recommend filling out the appropriate forms prior to your appointment:
  • Please bring a copy of any previous health records that you might have. Alternatively, you may notify us beforehand and we can obtain the records for you in advance of your visit
  • Compile a list of all medication that your pet may be on, including dosages, to bring to your appointment. Please remember to include any over-the-counter medication, supplements, and flea, tick and heartworm prevention that you may be giving your pet
  • Collect a fresh stool sample, if possible, to bring to your appointment

    Lead Veterinarian

    Dr. Pound grew up just outside of Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Animal Science and Agribusiness. She went on to attend the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her DVM. Her interests include neurology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. She is passionate about client education and being able to give back to the animals who bring such joy to the lives of their families. When not working, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, ...

    Dr. Jennifer King grew up in Northern Virginia. She graduated from St. George’s University Vet School in 2006. She has practiced veterinary medicine in Maryland since 2006 and became certified in rehabilitation and physical therapy in 2011. She is interested in neurology, ophthalmology, feline medicine, and pain management. She practiced emergency medicine and rehabilitation for five years before joining Paradise Animal Hospital.     Veterinarian

    Dr. Riehl is originally from Corvallis, Oregon. She completed her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University but returned home and graduated from Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She completed an internship at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2012. Dr. Riehl’s veterinary interests include sports medicine and internal medicine.     After graduating from Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, Dr. Twardzik moved to Portland, Oregon, where she practiced for 10 years. In 2013, she returned to Maryland and joined the Paradise team. Her areas of interest include internal medicine, feline medicine, pain management, wellness and senior care. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Twardzik enjoys writing, reading, gardening, travel, and any number of outdoor activities. She currently shares her home with her cat Winky.

    Dr. Halpern grew up in central New Jersey, just outside of New York City. She earned her B.S. in Biology and Italian Studies from Brandeis University. She then completed her DVM and Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special interests include feline medicine and behavior, internal medicine, and ophthalmology.
